Einstein Leads Dogwood State Boys' After 36 Holes

 

Second round results of the 13th Dogwood State Junior Boys' Championship conducted on the East Course at Bermuda Run C.C. in Bermuda Run, N.C. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 (7,078 yards, Par 36-36--72, Course Rating 74.4/139).

Playing on his home course, Brandon Einstein of Clemmons, N.C. vaulted up the leader board and sits in first place after two rounds of the Dogwood State Junior Boys' Championship.  Einstein, a rising high school senior, shot a second round of five under par 67 on the Ellis Maples designed East Course at Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, N.C.  Einstein has a two day total of six under par 138.  "I was driving it in play which led to hitting 15 greens and I rolled the putter really good, but the key was driving it well.  I had a bogey on twelve, but I bounced back with a birdies on fifteen and seventeen which kept me going throughout the day." stated Einstein.  "I've got the home crowd going for me so that's a plus and I hope I can get it down tomorrow" added the seventeen year old.

 

First round leader Peter Fountain of Raleigh, N.C. followed his first round of 68 with a round of one under par 71 and sits just one shot back at five under par 139.  Ethan Hall of Morehead City, N.C. is in third place at two under par 142.  Defending champion Fulton Smith of Pinehurst, N.C. is tied for fourth place at one under par 141 with Addison Manring of Stoneville, N.C.

 

The field was reduced to the top 70 and ties after 36-holes with 71 players making the cut.  Thursday's final round will begin at 7:30 am off #1 and #10 tees.

 

Entry for the Dogwood State Junior Boys' is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached his 19th birthday by August 3, 2017, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index® of  18.4 or lower at a CGA member club.
