SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 6, 2017) -- Final results from U.S. Girls' Junior Qualifying at Mid Carolina Club in Prosperity, S.C. on July 6, 2017 (6192 yards, par 36-36--72, Course/Slope rating: 77.1/142).
Jensen Castle of West Columbia, S.C. was the only player in red numbers on Thursday with a one-under-par 71. Castle's stellar play earned her medalist honors and a ticket to the U.S. Girls' Junior in a few weeks. Gracyn Burgess of Lexington, S.C. and Isabella Van Der Biest of Kingsport, T.N. each carded an even-par 72 and Haruka Shintani of Bluffton, S.C. finished with a one-over-par 73 to advance to the championship proper. Smith Knaffle of Murrells Inlet, S.C. defeated Baylee Evans of Lancaster, S.C. in a two-way playoff for the final qualifying spot
Baylee Evans is the first alternate. Elle Johnson of Inman, S.C. is the second alternate.
Five qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
Qualifying is conducted over 18 holes at 39 locations across the United States. The championship proper will be held at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, M.O. on July 24-29, 2017.
This qualifier was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association on behalf of the United States Golf Association.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
