Semifinal matches will begin Friday morning at 8:00am. The championship match is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30pm.

Meet the semi-finalists:

Narayan Mohan of Charlotte

Mohan is a 14-year-old rising freshman at The Cannon School. He is currently ranked 133rd in North Carolina by the Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA). After shooting two-over 73 in stroke play, he qualified as the No. 32 seed for match play. In the Round of 32 Wednesday, Mohan dispatched No. 1 seed Spencer Oxendine 4&3.

On Thursday, Mohan began with another convincing 4&3 victory over Bradley Calloway of Asheboro. In the afternoon's quarterfinal match, Mohan went 3 up thru 5 holes on Peter Fountain of Raleigh, but faltered on the back nine before winning 1 up. "I knew I had to play really to beat him," Mohan said after the match. Playing in his first NC Junior Boys' Championship, Mohan says the key to his success has been his mental game. "I've been really cool. I don't get mad, even when I hit bad shots."

Quinn Riley of Raleigh

Riley is a 17-year-old rising senior at Ravenscroft School. He is ranked 47th in North Carolina by TYGA. His even-par 71 qualified as the No. 13 seed. After a close call in the Round of 64 - a 1 up win over Chandler Metz - Riley cruised into the quarterfinals with a pair of 4&3 victories. In the Round of 16, Riley defeated fellow Ravenscroft teammate Kenan Poole, II.

"I didn't want to play a full 18 holes today, trying to conserve energy," Riley said. He accomplished that goal in his afternoon match against No. 12 Tanner Bibey of Walnut Cove. Riley holed out for eagle on the par-4 7th then drove the 330-yard par-4 12th for a two-putt birdie en route to a 6&5 victory.

In just his second year playing in the championship, Riley has played his way into the semifinals. "It hasn't sunk in yet. I know a lot of great players that haven't made it this far. It feels good."

Riley says that staying hydrated and not losing focus will be key for him on Friday.

Seve Anfindsen of Apex

Anfindsen is an 18-year-old recent graduate from Green Hope High School who has committed to play at Southern Wesleyan. He is currently ranked 100th in North Carolina. His four-over 75 on Tuesday earned the 55th match play seed. Anfindsen credits his caddy, Brian Chen, for a lot of great reads. Chen did not advance to match play but stayed to caddy for his friend.

Qualifying to play in this championship for the first time - in his last year of eligibility - has this week at Colonial Country Club special for Anfindsen. "It's not over. I came here to win this, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

The quarterfinal match against Symon Balbin of Pinehurst was the first match he had not trailed in and Anfindsen did not feel comfortable with the lead. Holding a 2 up lead thru 12 holes, Anfindsen and Balbin traded holes coming in, until Anfindsen claimed the 18th with par for a 2 up win. "My short game has gone from a C minus to an A." "It has gotten me this far and hopefully I can ride it to the finals."

Zach Caudill of Wilkesboro

Caudill is an 18-year-old who has committed to play golf at Western Carolina in the fall. He is ranked 65th in North Carolina. Behind a 74 in stroke play, Caudill is the 38th seed.

In his Round of 16 match against Zane Sullivan of Charlotte, Caudill squeaked out a 1up victory despite not playing well. "This morning I struggled, but I came through when I needed to."

Caudill held a four up lead at the turn in his quarterfinal match against Connor Armistead of Charlotte. When Caudill lost Nos. 13 & 14, his lead was cut in half. Then playing the par-3 17th, Caudill hit his approach within six feet and was able to two putt for the victory. "I wanted to get past where I did last year [Round of 16], so I'm pretty pleased."

The championship format is match play with an 18 hole of stroke play qualifier to determine the seeding for match play. The top 64 boys from the stroke play qualifier advance to match play. The 50th North Carolina Junior Boys' champion will be invited to represent the CGA in the Virginias-Carolinas Junior Team Matches at Boonesboro Country Club in Lynchburg, VA on August 12-13, 2017.
