US Open Local Qualifying Results from River Landing
WALLACE, N.C.– Final results from U.S. Open Championship Local Qualifying hosted by River Landing (River Course) in Wallace, NC on Monday, May 10, 2017 (6911 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating:73.8/141).
Five qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
Brinson Paolini of Virginia Beach, VA earned medalist honors by shooting a nine-under par 63 and earned the first qualifying spot. The second and third qualifying spots went to Matthew Short of Hudson, NC and Thomas Bass of Wilmington, NC who both shot eight-under par 64. Benjamin Shipp from Duluth, GA and Alex Smalley from Wake Forest, NC rounded out the last two qualifying spots with scores of 65 and 66 respectively.
First alternate went to Clark Rose of Goldsboro, NC and second alternate position went to Zachary Martin of Pinehurst, NC.
Sectional qualifying, conducted over 36 holes, will be held on Monday, June 5, at 10 sites in the U.S. For the 12th consecutive year, Japan and England will host international sectional qualifying, scheduled for May 22 and May 29, respectively
