15th Carolinas Pro Junior Preview

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 18, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 15th Carolinas Pro Junior at Providence Country Club at Charlotte, N.C. on July 19, 2021. The majority of the field will compete at 6,704 yards (par 35-37--72). Male pros and Boys' 14-18 will play the Blue tees. Female pros, boys' 12-13 and all girls will play the Green tees. All 11 and under will play the Red tees.

The 7,021 yard par 72 championship golf course at Providence Country Club provides a unique challenge to the accomplished golfer while still accommodating novice skill with five-tiered tee boxes. Featuring five par-five, five par-three and eight par-four holes the original Dan Maples layout was redesigned by Mike Gleason before architect Kris Spence renovated the course in 2018. This recent, $3.2 million project focused on bunkers, irrigation, transitioning the greens to Champion Bermuda, and designing new, dramatic looks from the fairways.  

Format is 18-holes of Pinehurst Foursomes. A team must then complete the hole with the ball selected. Golf Professionals will play from the same set of tees and the junior will play from tees based on gender and age. Female professionals and professionals over the age of 60 may play a shorter set of tee designated by the committee. Trophies will be awarded to the champion team, the runner- up team, and the second runner-up team. All play will begin with a 9:00 am shotgun start. 

 

Entry is open to any team comprised of a golf professional and a junior golfer 8-18 years of age as of July 19, 2021 who has not started college.  The professional and junior golfer must be legal residents of North or South Carolina.  Golf Professional does not have to be a member of the Carolinas PGA.
