Lauren and Gary Robinson of Fayetteville, N.C. win fourth Parent-Child title
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (July 22, 2016) -- Final results of the 19th Carolinas Parent-Child Championship conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) at Longleaf Golf & Family Club on Friday, July 22, 2016 (Par 35-36--71, 6032 yards).
Gary Robinson and his daughter Lauren found their way back to the Carolinas Parent-Child winner circle Friday at Longleaf Golf & Family Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Their fourth Parent-Child victory ties them for the most all-time with Gary and Katie Garahan of Rock Hill, S.C.
The championship format is 18 holes of modified alternate shot. Playing in two-person teams, each team member hits from the tee. From there, one ball is selected to be played, then alternate shot until the ball is holed.
From 2011 to 2013, the Robinson duo won three consecutive Parent-Child championships before Kevin and Jodee Tindal of Rock Hill, S.C. interrupted the streak by winning two of their own in 2014 and 2015.
The Robinson's one-under-par 70 was enough to edge the half of the defending champion team by one stroke. This year Kevin Tindal played with Jaelyn, Jodee's older sister. The Tindals overcame bogeys on their opening two holes, playing their final nine in two-under to finish at even par 71.
Entry is open to any team comprised of a parent and child, regardless of age, in any gender combination excluding male-male. Step-parents, grandparents and in-laws are eligible. At least one member of each team must: 1) be a legal resident of one of the Carolinas; 2) be a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and have a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club or is a golf professional employed at a CGA member club. A team is eligible if one partner is an amateur member of a CGA member club or if one partner is a golf professional employed by a CGA member club. Pro-Pro teams are NOT eligible.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.
