Preview: 20th North Carolinas Four-Ball Championship

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The 20th North Carolina Four-Ball Championship will be played at Croasdaile Country Club in Durham from October 9-11, 2015.

A full field of 80 teams are entered into the championship. The 2014 champion team, brothers Mark Gauley of Raleigh and Brian Gauley of Wake Forest, return seeking a title defense. The duo also captured the title in 2006. 

Other notable teams (full list of participants):

• Six-time CGA champion Matt Crenshaw of Burlington (two-time Carolinas Four-Ball winner) and Chris Cassetta of Winston-Salem.

• Gary Robinson (four-time CGA champion) and Brian Dreier of Fayetteville.

• Uly Grisette of Winston-Salem (three-time CGA champion) and Bob Ferrel, Jr. of Durham.

• Dave Boyce, Jr. of Charlotte (2013 NC Four-Ball champion)  partnering this year with Dermot McElhennon of New Bern.

• Logan Harrell (2012 NC Four-Ball champion) and Neil Harrell of Huntersville.

• David Donovan, IV of Hampstead (2011 NC Four-Ball champion) and Jackson Taylor of Wilmington.

• Chris Eaves of Burgaw (2009 NC Four-Ball champion) and Clint Eaves of Clayton.

• Sherrill Britt of West End (2015 Carolinas Mid-Am champ & '15 U.S. Four-Ball runner-up) and Dale Ring of Carthage.

• Greg Earnhardt of Greensboro (2015 NC Mid-Am champ & '15 U.S. Four-Ball runner-up) and Frank McBrayer of West End.

• Dean Channell of Cary (2002 NC Four-Ball champion) and Keith Harris of Pinehurst.

• Jack Massei of Cary (2015 N.C. Junior Boys' champion) and AJ Beechler of Pinehurst.

Croasdaile Country Club will host its third CGA championship

The Croasdaile golf course was designed in 1966 by renowned architect George W. Cobb and redesigned in 2002 by his former associate, award-winning golf course architect, John LaFoy. This will be the third CGA championship hosted by the club (2004 North Carolina Amateur, 2010 Carolinas Junior Girls').

After the second round of four-ball stroke play on October 10th, the field will be cut to the low 30 teams and ties. The 18-hole final round will be played on Sunday, October 11th.
 

Championship Schedule:
Friday, October 9
Championship Round 1. Tee times off #1 and #10 tees starting at 8:00am/12:30pm.

Saturday, October 10
Championship Round 2. Tee times off #1 and #10 tees starting at 8:00am/12:30pm.
Field cut to low 30 teams for final round.

Sunday, October 11
Championship Round 3. Tee times off #1 and #10 tees starting at 8:00am.
Awards ceremony following play at scoreboard.
