2005 Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournament Changes:
Entry forms are accumulated for the entire open/close window (3 weeks). The field is selected by the CGA using a "blind draw" method.
Entry Fee is $70.00 per team plus mandatory cart fee.
Addition of second low gross prize. Gross winners may come from any flight (updated 2/17/05).
Four-Ball Net Knockout Rule: A team is disqualified from a tournament if they beat the course rating by 12 strokes or more AND beat the next best score by four strokes or more. Example: Course rating is 70.2. A team posts a net 54, then the next best net score in the field is net 59. The net 54 team is disqualified.
2005 Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournament Policies
Eligibility
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a legal resident of one of the Carolinas, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA handicap index (within 60 days of tournament entry opening date) at a CGA member club. A player with more than one handicap index must use the lowest current index. Entries are subject to rejection at any time including during the event, by the CGA or by the club hosting the tournament.
Rules
USGA Rules of Golf govern play. Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. According to USGA handicap procedures, 90 percent of a player's course handicap is used to determine net scores. Course handicaps are limited to 18 strokes. If the difference between the partner's course handicaps exceeds eight strokes, then an additional 10 percent reduction is applied to both team members. Teams are pre-flighted according to total team course handicap. Partner substitutions made within five days of the tournament date must be approved in advance by the CGA office. Any on-site partner substitutions result in the new partner playing at scratch and the team competing within the same flight. Competitors must subscribe to all host club restrictions concerning dress, coolers, etc. Cart rental and use is mandatory for tournament rounds. Practice rounds are not available. Metal and ceramic spikes are prohibited. Competitors may check tournament information at
www.carolinasgolf.org. Scores made in four-ball events must be posted to an individual's handicap as a tournament score.Entry Information
Entry forms are accumulated for the entire Open/Close window. Open/Close dates and online tournament registration are available at
www.carolinasgolf.org. Tournament fields are selected using a "blind draw" method. Only eight teams from the host club are accepted unless the field is not filled. Fax, e-mail, telephone, late or incomplete entries are not accepted. The $70 entry fee must accompany this form. Only one check per tournament entry. Make check payable to the Carolinas Golf Association. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to the applicant. A $20 administrative fee is deducted from all refunds. Refunds are not made after entries close except in the case of player illness, injury or death in the family. Refunds are not made for any reason after five days prior to the tournament. When tournaments are scheduled on consecutive days, priority in acceptance is given to those who enter both events. Teams must submit a separate entry form for each tournament.Double Tournaments
At select sites denoted on the tournament schedule, two separate tournaments (AM and PM) will be conducted at the same site on the same date. No special tee time requests will be accepted.
Prizes and Merchandise
Merchandise will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place gross scores in the "A" Division and for low net scores in both flights. Merchandise certificates are redeemable only at the host club's golf shop. Ties for 1st and 2nd place gross, 1st net or a prize less than $25 are broken using the USGA recommended method.
