Carolinas Win the 55th Virginias-Carolinas Women’s Team Matches
RADFORD, Va., July 20, 2011 – The 24-golfer Carolinas team won seven of 12 final day four-ball match play encounters to
post a seven-point victory (57½-50½) as the 55th Virginias-Carolinas Women’s Team Matches concluded on Wednesday at
The Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.
Carolinas owned a one-point lead entering day two and claimed final-day matches by six points, 21-15. Three points are
available per match; a point is scored for winning the outward half, the inward nine and the overall match.
With the victory, Carolinas notched its first victory on Virginia soil since 2001 when they triumphed by 14 points at Farmington
Country Club in Charlottesville, Va. Carolinas also took home its second straight win in the series, having triumphed last year
at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. The matches annually rotate between sites in the Virginias and Carolinas.
