Lexington, SC -- Final results of the 46th Twin States Junior Girls Championship hosted by the Country Club of Lexington in Lexington, SC on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Par 36-36-72 5914 yards.

Sydney Legacy of Lexington, SC led wire-to-wire to capture her first "major" championship win and first CGA title. Legacy, 17, did not have as many birdies today but was able to keep Sarah Bae of Cary, NC at arms length with a steady string of pars throughout the day. "I did not have one single birdie today," Legacy said. "I must have used them all up yesterday," Legacy laughed. Bae would keep fighting until the final putt was holed. She made birdie on the par 5 15th as well as an impressive birdie on the par 3 17th but a bogey on the final hole would leave her three shots behind Legacy at day's end.

"I was really trying to catch her," Bae said. "I needed her to make a few mistakes but that just didn't happen. Overall, I'm happy with the way I played this week." When asked how Sydney (Legacy) felt about winning her first "major championship title" she simply smiled and replied, "it feels pretty amazing and incredible."

Legacy will be automatically invited to represent the Carolinas Junior Girls team in 2013 at the Mid-Atlantic Challenge Matches.

In the sub-junior division, Jensen Castle of W. Columbia, SC fired a front nine score of 39---79 to take the trophy. This division plays 9 holes only and is for players who are 12 or under who opt not to play in the championship division.

Players were also placed into flights for the final round.

This championship was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 103rd year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
