Greensboro, NC -- Final results of the 9th North Carolina Women's Senior Amateur Championship hosted by Greensboro Country Club (Irving Park) on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Par 38-35--72, 5576 yards 72.8/127.

Pat Brogden of Garner, NC shot a two under par round of 71--147 in cold and windy conditions to win her third North Carolina Women's Senior Amateur Championship title by one shot over Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC. This victory gives Brogden her seventh CGA win.

Brogden finished her outward nine at three under par while Moore finished in three over par. "I putted very well today," Brogden said. "I knew I had pulled one ahead after nine holes and I just stayed patient and took it one shot at a time." Both players were neck and neck heading down the eighteenth hole. Brogden hit her approach shot fairly close to the hole in regulation. Moore had to get up and down for a par to tie. Unfortunately, Moore missed a 12-footer to send the championship into sudden death.

"I wasn't prepared for an acceptance speech because I didn't think I would be in this position at the start of the day," Brogden smiled. Brogden was referring to the fact that she was five shots back to Moore heading into the final round.

Defending champion Angela Stewart of Greenville, NC finished in 10th place. Players were also placed into flights within their division for the duration of the championship.

In the tournament division Becca McKinney of Raleigh, NC shot a 76-79--155 and captured the overall tournament division. Local Greensboro Country Club member Mary Rhodes of Greensboro, NC won the Super Senior trophy with a 161. This division plays a shorter course.
