Myrtle Beach, SC -- Final results of the 7th Carolinas Mixed Team Championship hosted by Myrtlewood Golf Club, PineHills course, on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Par 36-36--72. 6640 yards (men) 5692 yards (women).
Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, NC fired an impressive 11-under par, 61--128 to win their sixth Carolinas Mixed Team Championship title. After nine holes, the Adams' duo had a four-shot lead at the turn over Shawn and Lea Venable of Simpsonville, SC. "We were 6-under at that point and I even missed a birdie opportunity on the 9th green," Anthony laughed. Even though Debbie made three birdies of her own she said it was her husband, Anthony, that played lights out today. "It was all Anthony," Debbie said. "He probably shot 61 on his own ball if we really had to figure it out. I don't think I even needed to show up." The two day total of 128 is one shot shy of their lowest Carolinas Mixed Team Championship round. They shot 127 back in 2007 at Ocean Ridge's Lion Paw course in Sunset Beach, NC which is the current lowest championship scoring record.
In the tournament division, Treg and Savannah Hallman of Mt. Pleasant, SC came back to the field a little bit after shooting a 2-under par 70--132 to win by four shots over Cass and Todd Manley of Moncks Corner, SC. This division plays a shorter course.
In the Senior Division, local members Gary and Julie Loebs of Myrtle Beach, SC used their local knowledge and steady course management to win by eight shots over defending senior champions, Dan and Deborah Beasley of Waynesville, NC.
Players were allowed to select which division they wished to compete in and were then pre-flighted within those divisions based on a formula using total team handicap index.

This championship was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association (www.carolinasgolf.org) which is in its 103rd year of serving amateur golf in North and South Carolina.
