CHARLOTTE, NC – Final results of the 35th Club Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Carolina Golf Club in Charlotte, NC on Monday, April 9, 2012 (Men’s Yardage: 6703 yards; Women’s Yardage: 5518 yards; Par 36-35—71).
The team of Adam McLaughlin and Matthew Crenshaw representing Alamance Country Club of Burlington, NC posted a nine-under par 62 to win the championship by one stroke over the Country Club of Salisbury. Their round included seven birdies and an eagle.
This is Alamance Country Club’s second Club Championship title as it won in 2007 at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, NC.
“We brother-in-law’d it very well today”, stated McLaughlin. “Matthew birdied four of the last five holes. What a great way to finish!”
Defending champions Raleigh Country Club of Raleigh, NC withdrew from the event and was unable to defend their title.
The Carolinas Club Championship is open to teams comprised of two amateurs (male or female) from the same CGA member club or a golf professional (male or female) and an amateur (male or female) from the same CGA member club.
Amateur winners receive golf shop credit at Carolina Golf Club while golf professionals receive their winnings from the Carolinas PGA Section Office.
This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association as a service to its 685 member clubs representing 165,000 individuals.
