Camden, SC: They grew up playing golf together in Burlington, NC and now 30 year old Matt Crenshaw, a car salesman and 28 year old Blair Bowland, a restaurant manager, are the 2012 Carolinas Golf Association's Four-Ball Champions. Their 2 & 1 victory over Paul Tucker and Brent Roof is their first CGA win. Matt played professional golf from 2005 to 2009 and regained his amateur status in 2011. "Golf is fun again, especially this format on this course" said Matt. Blair echoed his sentiments and said he is really looking forward to next year's tournament.
The teams played equally well but the difference was missed opportunities by Tucker and Roof. They did not capitalize on four birdie putts from under 10 feet on the back nine. The front side ended all square as each team carded two birds against no bogies. Crenshaw then birdied 4 of the next five holes to give his team a 2 up lead. The turning point in the match was a 12 footer for birdie on #13 by Matt and a miss from 8 feet by Tucker.
This is event is one of 216 tournaments conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
