45th Carolinas Father-Son Championship

Final Results
Pinehurst, NC – Final results of the 45th Carolinas Father-Son Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Pinewild Country Club’s Holly course in Pinehurst, NC on Friday, July 29, 2011 (Par 36-35—71, 6390 yards).
Walker Taylor and Jackson Taylor of Wilmington, NC holed a three-foot birdie putt on the second playoff hole to defeat Walter and Neal Todd of Laurens, SC for the overall title.
The Taylor’s and Todd’s were familiar with each others abilities since they were paired together during the tournament round. The Taylor’s birdied the final two holes in regulation to finish at five-under par 66 with the Todd’s. They kept the birdie train rolling with birdies on the first two playoff holes to seal the victory.
“It’s a great feeling to win this event”, stated Walker Taylor. “I played in this event with my dad for years but we did not win it. So now I am fortunate enough to win it with my son. We tag-teamed very well especially at the end with Jackson holing the final two birdie putts in regulation and I was able to make the two in the playoff”.
Walker Taylor, a 49-year-old insurance businessman, and his son Jackson, a 21-year-old rising senior at Davidson College claim their first Carolinas Father-Son title. The win is the second CGA title for both Walker (1992 Carolinas Pro-Amateur) and Jackson (2011 Carolinas Young Amateur).
The Todd family has had their share of close calls over the years in CGA Father-Son events. Walter Todd has lost in playoffs with each of his son’s (Neal and Walt) and Walter’s brother, T.D. Todd, also lost in a playoff with his son Thomas.
