Charlotte, NC – Final round results of the 2^nd Super Senior Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Carolina Golf Club in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 (6217 yards, par 36-35—71, Rating: 69.8/130).

Edward Thompson, 70, of Kiawah Island, SC fired a four-under par 67 (132 total) to win the Carolinas Super Senior Championship by eight strokes over defending champion Larry Boswell of Jamestown, NC. Thompson’s final round included five birdies offset by one bogey.

Thompson, who is the semi-retired President of Prestige Farms, Inc., carded an amazing 14 birdies in the 36-hole event to win his first CGA championship and first event of any stature.

“I am really surprised that I played this well”, Thompson said. “I never got in trouble, drove it well both days and putted super. Since I am now semi-retired I have had some time to work on my game”. His practice time paid off this week for the Kiawah Island Club member.

Only two players broke par on the beautiful Donald Ross original/Kris Spence redesign layout for the championship.

The Carolinas Super Senior Championship is open to males who are residents of either North Carolina or South Carolina, who are at least 65 years old and have a maximum 15.4 handicap index at a CGA member club.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 101^st year of serving amateur golf in the Carolinas.
