style="text-autospace: none"> Raleigh, NC – Final results of the 17^th North Carolina Mid-Amateur Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by Carolina Country Club in Raleigh, NC on Sunday, September 19, 2010 (Par 35-36—71, 6304 yards, Rating 70.8/133).

2008 North Carolina Mid-Amateur Champion Uly Grisette of Clemmons, NC carded a final round two-under par 69 (204 total) to win by three strokes.

Grisette, a 44-year-old salesman, played six straight days of tournament golf this week. He was a member of the North Carolina team that finished in a tie for second place at the USGA State Team Championship in California.

“The course was so hard in California that I was tournament ready when I got here,” Grisette said. “Playing a USGA set-up gets you mentally prepared. I was tired on Friday due to the travel back home but was able to get off to a fast start each round.”

The win is Grisette’s third career CGA major championship (1985 North Carolina Amateur, 2008 North Carolina Mid-Amateur).

“I putted very well this week probably due to hanging out with (Paul) Simson all week,” he said with a smile. “I am now ready for a break though.” Simson is known for his stellar short game ability.

Defending champion Paul Tucker of Waxhaw, NC was unable to defend his title due to an injury.
