Final Results

Gastonia, NC—After three close calls this summer, John Conners of Apex finally secured his first Carolinas Golf Association championship winning the Dogwood State Junior Championship. Conners, a high school senior, was a semifinalist at the NC Junior and tied for fourth in the Carolinas Junior in July. Conners finished the 54-hole event at even par on the 6889 yard course at Gaston Country Club in Gastonia, NC. 2007 NC Junior champion Robert Hoadley of Southern Pines finished one shot back at one over par 217.

Courtney Taylor of Gastonia scored a hat track winning the girls’ division for the third straight year. Taylor, a high school senior who has committed to play golf for UNC-Greensboro, came from behind to finish with a total of 231. Finishing tied for second two shots back were Allison Emrey of Charlotte and Laura Wearn of Charlotte.

In the boys’ 12-13 division, Victor Wiggins of Gastonia defeated Drew Johnson of Oak Ridge on the fifth playoff hole. Both players finished at four under par 212. Skottowe Smith of Charlotte won the boys’ 11 and under division by an impressive four shots.

This junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
