Final Results

Richmond, Va. – The Virginias team defeated the Carolinas 20 1/2 to 15 1/2 to claim “The Captains Putter” in the Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches at the Country Club of Richmond. The win broke a Carolinas’ three-year winning streak.

The Virginias posted some early wins in the singles with shut outs in the first five matches.

The Virginias entered the day with a slim 1 point lead but claimed a two–point win in the regular matches as well as the senior matches for their 5-point overall win.

The Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches pits 24 golfers of Virginia and West Virginia against 24 golfers from North and South Carolina. The matches were reduced to four-ball and singles matches after inclement weather forced the cancelation of the alternate shot matches.

A total 36 points were available with 18 ½ needed for a win.

This competition is conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association, Virginia State Golf Association and West Virginia Golf Association.
