Final Results

State Road, NC—If at first you do not succeed, try try again. That is the attitude Robert Hoadley used in winning the 2007 NC Junior Boys’ Championship. After losing in the final’s match in 2006, Hoadley of Southern Pines defeated Andy Knox of Cary 1up to win his first CGA major championship. Hoadley, a 16 year old rising high school junior at Union Pines High School in Carthage, defeated Tommy Gibson 3&2 to advance to the finals match. Knox, 14 year old rising high school sophomore at Apex High School defeated Bo Andrews of Raleigh 2&1. Knox won the NC Junior Boys’ 13 and under championship in 2006.

Both boys will be invited to participate on the Carolinas Junior Team in the Carolinas – Virginias Junior Team matches at Boonsboro CC in Lynchburg, VA on August 18 – 19, 2007. This will be Hoadley second year on the junior team.

In the girls’ championship, showing very little nerves, Eleana Collins of Pinehurst successfully defended her title winning the 2007 N.C. Junior Girls Championship. Collins, a rising high school senior, defeated Lauren Smith of Salisbury 6&4 in the championship match. Collins carded 3 birdies and no bogeys in her match on the Ellis Maples designed Cedarbrook CC course.

By winning the NC Junior Girls’ Championship, Collins will be invited to compete on the Carolinas Junior Girls’ team in the Mid-Atlantic Challenge at CC of North Carolina in Pinehurst on August 4 – 5, 2007.

This annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
