WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Carolinas team, propelled by a strong singles performance, won the Carolinas-Virginias team matches at Old Town Club.

Securing a 17-7 win in the singles, the Carolinas added to their previous 15-9 lead for the victory.

Team Captain Arnold Edwards of Charlotte, NC was pleased with the team's effort. 

"I am glad to be going out as captain with a 2-0 record," said Edwards who served a two-year stint as captain. "I even got to contribute to last year's win as a player and captain which made it even sweeter!"

The Team Matches are a Ryder Cup-like event featuring a 24-man team of top regular and senior amateur players from North and South Carolina against their counterparts from the Virginia and West Virginia. The matches, conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association, the Virginia State Golf Association, and the West Virginia Golf Associations are played at four-ball match play, foursomes match play (alternate shot), and singles match play competitions with one point at stake in each match.

This is the third consecutive win for the Carolinas who the leads the series 45-16-1.
