Final Round Results

Seabrook Island, SC -- Final round results of the 29th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship hosted by Seabrook Island Club, Ocean Winds Course, Seabrook Island, SC.  Par 36-36--72, 5787 yards.

First round leaders, Blythe Worley of Greenville, NC and Laura Crawford of Lancaster, SC capture their first CGA women's four-ball title by two shots over Dinah Plyler of Chapin, SC and Angie Hill of Charleston, SC.  The team of Worley-Crawford carded a total of eleven birdies on the day with eight of the teams birdies belonging to Crawford alone.  "Laura was putting from everywhere," said her partner Blythe,  "We had five birdies within the first six holes.  It was unbelievable!"  Plyler and Hill also seemed to have hot putters but in the end their 64 wasn't enough to catch the champions.  Plyler said, "We were back and forth with each other all day.  It got really close on a few holes where we just kept trading birdies with each other, Angie seemed to make everything she looked over."   

Two time defending champions Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC and Lori Teague of Newton, NC found themselves nine shots back of the leaders at the end of the day and finished in third place.  Any hopes they had of having their name on the trophy yet again was quickly put to rest.  During her acceptance speech Worley said, "We are happy to have won this championship, we had a lot of fun and feel that everyone has been very supportive of us.  We look forward to returning next year to defend our title."

All competitors were placed into flights after the first round based on score. 

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association as a benefit to it's 185,000 members.
