ROBERT AND DAVID DARGAN WIN 55th CAROLINAS FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP AT CAMDEN COUNTRY CLUB

Camden, SC - 2003 Runners up Robert and David Dargan of Columbia, SC claimed their first Carolinas Four-Ball title by defeating three-time and defending
champions Bert Atkinson of Charleston, SC and Sammy Truett of Surfside Beach, SC.

The Dargans, who were also qualifying medalists in 2000, handled rainy and windy conditions to win the title.

"We have played well in this on a few occasions, so it certainly feels good to finally win", said the elder Dargan Robert.  "Beating Bert and Sammy is not easy to do.

This year's event was the 50th playing of the Four-Ball at Camden Country in its 55 year history.

After playing 1/2 hole, the weather forced a 30 minute rain delay in the final round.  Atkinson and Truett took a one up lead with a win on the third hole. The Dargans then won holes five, seven and nine for a two-up lead at the turn.

Atkinson and Truett fought back to square the match with birdies on holes 10 and 13.  The Dargans won 14 with a birdie and 16 with a par. The 17th hole was halved for the 2 and 1 win.

This event is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
