Powell and Waters combined for four and three birdies respectively for their seven-under-final round.

Powell, the reigning Carolinas Four-Ball co-champion was happy with his partner's play.

"Keith came through for me at the times I was out of the hole," said Powell. "When I won the Carolinas Four-Ball earlier this year, my goal was to become the first person to win that and the North Carolina Four-Ball in the same year. I knew Keith would be a great partner for this event."

Waters becomes the first player to win the NC Four-Ball with two different partners. Waters teamed with Press McPhaul in 1999 to capture the championship at River
Run Country Club in Davidson.

Powell and Water's score of 195 (21-under par) is the third-lowest total in the event's nine-year history. Bob Stanger and Steve Slayden hold the record with a score of 191 (22-under par) in the inaugural event at Sedgefield Country Club.

The North Carolina Four-Ball championship was conducted over Sea Trails Jones and Byrd courses. The format calls for a two-man team to count their best score on each hole. A field of 112 teams competed in the event.

The North Carolina Four-Ball is one of 23 championships conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
