Pinehurst, N.C. - First-round co-leaders Karen Ferree of Hilton Head Island, S.C. and Page Marsh of Raleigh, N.C. fired a tournament-low score of 67 to win the Women's Carolinas Four-Ball Championship at Pinewild Country Club's Holly Course.

Ferree and Marsh edged Meghan Jolly or Hickory, N.C. and Amanda Mathews of Southern Pines, N.C. by two strokes.

Ferree, 51 and Marsh, 38 began the day with a strong start with three birdies on the front nine to turn at three-under par. The champions then birdied 13 and followed by a Ferree 40-yard wedge shot on the par-5 14th to go six-under par. Their lone bogey of the day came on the following 15th.

"We really played solid golf except for one hole," said Marsh, the reigning Atlantic Coast Conference women's golf coach of the year. "This is the first time we have played together and it was quite fun."

Ferree, 2001 semifinalist in the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur, converted on 2 birdies and an eagle while former North and South champion Marsh made two birdies.

With this win, Marsh now holds four Carolinas Women's Four-Ball titles with four different partners. Two of her previous partners are her sister Amber and her mother Linda.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.

Final scores in the 25th Carolinas Women's Four-Ball Championship conducted at Pinewild Country Club (Holly Course). Par 72, 5,700 yards.
