FLORENCE, SC-- Ronnie Grove of Raleigh, NC and Larry Boswell of Jamestown, NC shot a final round 67 to win the Carolinas Senior Four-Ball championship at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, SC, bettering two teams by a single shot.
The pair finished strong as Boswell, a holder of six individual CGA titles, birdied the 17th hole to grab a one shot lead heading into the final hole where, Grove, the 2000 Carolinas Senior and North Carolina Senior champion, two-putted from 55-feet to secure the victory on the 440 yard par-4 eighteenth hole.
Coming up a shot short were Vic Hannon of Camden, SC and Don Taylor of Bluffton, SC and Lanny Correll of Pawleys Island, SC and Jamie Frazier of Winnsboro, SC. Both teams fired final round four-under par 68's.
With the victory Boswell and Grove qualify for the Carolinas team which will take on a team from the Virginias in the annual Carolinas-Virginias team matches in October.
This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
