Browns Summit, NC – Danny Gurley of Chapel Hill fired a final round 68 to win his first Carolinas Golf Association title. He finished runner up in last year’s Carolinas Amateur at the Dunes Club and evidently found he had the game to win a major title. A self-professed late bloomer, Gurley had 5 birdies and a lone bogey to win by three strokes over last year’s Carolinas Mid-Am winner, Wynn Solle of Pinehurst and 2000 CGA Mid-Am champion, Keith Harris of Concord. The 41-year-old medical supply retailer said of his victory, "I’m especially happy to win early in the season as this secures a spot on the Carolinas Team Matches later this year."

This event is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
