ROARING GAP, NC --Ronnie Grove of Raleigh, NC shot a final round 70 for a three shot victory in the 39th Senior Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association at the Roaring Gap Club in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. Grove, a vice president for Merrill Lynch, had five birdies and an eagle in his final round to offset three bogeys and a double bogey.

"I only made one double bogey the entire tournament. I think that was key. It is a hard golf course," he said of the 6,200 yard par 72 Donald Ross design, "I never thought 208 could be shot. We thought it would take even par to win."

Woody Greene of Columbia, SC, the first round leader, fired a final round 71 for a three-day total of 211 and second place. Larry Boswell of Jamestown finished at even par 216 and in third place. Tom Hadley, the 1993 and 1994 champion of this even finished fourth at 217.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
