CAMDEN, S.C. - Steve Harwell of Mooresville, N.C and Macon Moye of Charlotte captured the
46th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship by defeating defending champions Mark Thaxton and
Chris Corn of Rock Hill, S.C., 5 and 4, at Camden Country Club. Harwell and Moye took
advantage of some early mistakes by Thaxton and Corn to build an early on the first nine holes,
then held on for the win. The 18-hole final match was played on Sunday afternoon following the
morning semifinal matches which were pushed back to inclement weather on Saturday. In the
semifinal matches, Thaxton and Corn ousted former University of North Carolina golfers
Johnny Elam of Charlotte and Kevin King of Hilton Head, S.C., 4 and 3. Harwell and Moye
knocked off Charlotte golfers John Fitch and Norman Swenson, 2 and 1.
