Please check the pairing sheet for your starting time on Monday, May 7 at Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, NC. The qualifier will be played on the Magnolia course.
Format, Caddies and USGA Policies
U.S. Open Local qualifying is 18 holes, that you must walk in all phases of the championship and that you are responsible for providing your own caddie. Caddies will NOT be available at Pinewild Country Club. Players may carry their own bag during the qualifying round. Pull-carts are NOT allowed. Caddies will be allowed to rent a cart for the qualifying round at this site. However, caddies may have to share carts during the qualifying round as not more than two carts are allowed per group.
The USGA prohibits the use of cellular phones and distance measuring devices during qualifying and championship rounds. Also, the USGA does not allow spectator carts or spectators to ride in a caddie cart during qualifying rounds or the championship proper. Traditional metal spikes are not allowed. The penalty for non-compliance is disqualification. The "One-Ball" rule will be in effect. New Grooves Rule Condition of Competition in Effect for U.S. Open Local Contestants
In Local Qualifying (first stage), Sectional Qualifying (second stage) and in the Championship proper, the player’s clubs must conform to the groove specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010. The condition of competition is available for review on the U.S. Open Championship entry application. The USGA and R&A have created a reference resource called the Informational Club Database to assist golfers in determining whether their irons, hybrids and fairway woods comply with the New Grooves Rule Specifications. Locker Room: Players will have access to the men's locker room.
Dress Code: Shirts must have collars and be tucked-in; shorts are allowed but must be Bermuda length, and no denim. The policy is for both players and caddies.
You are entitled to one practice round from April 30-May 3 after 12:00pm and May 6 after 12:00pm when tee times are available. There is a mandatory $25.00 cart/range fee for the practice round. You may call the Pinewild CC golf shop starting April 29 to schedule a practice round tee time. Make sure to identify yourself as a U.S. Open Championship qualifying participant. It would be helpful if you make your own game before calling. Play the Black tees during your practice round except play the White tee yardage on hole #3, Blue tee yardage on holes #10 and #11 (7331 yards, par 72).
Mandatory Qualifying Round Fees
Each player is subject to either a mandatory range fee or cart/range fee on May 7. Cart fee for caddies is $25.00 and includes player’s range fee. There is a $5.00 range fee for players and caddies that walk during the qualifying round. Make sure to check-in with the golf shop staff when you arrive and pay your appropriate fees! Any player failing to pay appropriate cart and/or range fees will not be allowed to start play. Pinewild CC accepts Cash, MasterCard and Visa for cart/range fees and golf shop purchases.
The club’s grill room and turn house window in the clubhouse will be open for food and beverage service. Club accepts cash, MasterCard, and Visa for food and beverage.
8 qualifying spots and 2 alternate positions. The number of qualifying spots will be updated at www.carolinasgolf.org. There are 117 competitors in the field. An on-course playoff is used to determine the last qualifying spot or an alternate position. Players are responsible for making themselves available at the scoreboard for playoff instructions.

There are several lodging options in the Pinehurst area. The closest hotels are the Homewood Suites-Pinehurst Olmstead Village (910-255-0300) or the Pine Crest Inn (910-295-6121). The CGA has a discounted rate set-up at the Comfort Inn (910-215-5500) and at the Holiday Inn Express (910-693-2280). Both hotels are located on Hwy 15-501. Ask for the “CGA Rate”.
Qualifying Schedule
April 30-May 3, May 6 Tee times available after 12:00pm for practice round. Call golf shop in advance.
Monday, May 7 Qualifying round: 18 holes of stroke play. Playoffs for qualifying spots and alternates immediately following play.

Take the Hwy 211 West spur (Seven Lakes/Candor). Go approximately 4 miles and entrance to club is on left.
Pace of Play Policy
A player who is discovered taking more than 40 seconds is subject to a warning and will be so advised. The player will be notified that exceeding 40 seconds on one more occasion will result in a penalty of one stroke. A third violation will result in a two stroke penalty, followed by disqualification. A player’s time to play begins when he has had a reasonable opportunity to reach his ball and when it is the player’s turn to play and can do so without interference or distraction. Penalties are applied individually, but more than one competitor in a group may be penalized.
